The Northside Association for Community Development (NACD) has appointed Jonathan Yarbrough as its new Executive Director.

KALAMAZOO, MI — The Northside Association for Community Development (NACD) is proud to announce the appointment of Jonathan Yarbrough as its new Executive Director. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo’s Northside neighborhood and a dedicated leader in community development, Yarbrough brings energy, expertise, and a deeply personal connection to the role.

“Jonathan is a leader who not only understands the history of the Northside—he’s lived it,” said Raymond Ryan, NACD Board President. “He brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit operations, leadership development, youth engagement, and fundraising and we believe he’s uniquely equipped to carry our mission forward.”

Yarbrough most recently served as Assistant Director of Alumni & Donor Relations for Michigan State University’s College of Social Science, and previously as Director of Operations at the Douglass Community Association. His educational background includes a B.S. in Recreational Sport Management from Western Michigan University and a Master’s in Sports Leadership & Administration from Michigan State University. Across all of his roles, Jonathan has built a reputation as a connector, bridge-builder, and advocate for equity and access.

“Coming back home to serve in this way is an incredible honor,” said Yarbrough. “The Northside is filled with brilliance, resilience, and untapped potential. I’m here to listen, to serve, and to work alongside our residents to create the kind of future we all deserve.”

Since 1981, NACD has been a driving force for growth and opportunity in the Northside community. Offering training programs, economic development initiatives, and housing resources, NACD is committed to providing the tools and support residents need to build a brighter future.

A community welcome event and listening session will be held at a later date to give residents an opportunity to meet Jonathan and share their vision for the neighborhood.
